TOKYO WILL HOST WBO's 2019 CONVENTION

PANAMA CITY ? Tokyo has been approved to host next year's 32nd WBO Annual Convention during the last of the this year's annual convention at El Panama Hotel here Wednesday with San Juan, Puerto Rico being designated as the alternate site in case the Japan hosting won't push thru.
WBO Executive Committee member and JBC official Tsuyoshi Yosukochi took the floor before the Ratings discussion to express Tokyo's desire to host next year's event. The WBO Executive Committee headed by its president Francisco 'Paco' Valcarcel thereafter unanimously approved Tokyo to be next year's host and also voted to have San Juan, Puerto Rico as a backup site.
The annual gathering of one of the world's premier boxing bodies put together into one roof most of the world's top boxing officials, boxing promoters, managers and boxers from all over the world to take stock of their achievements an plan ahead for the upcoming year.
This year's convention in this historic city of Panama has more than 300 delegates from all over the world and recognized some of the best boxers in their respective divisions including pound for pound king Terence Crawford, who stopped Australia's Jeff Horn and Arizona's David Benavidez in his first two welterweight fights this year, as the year's best fighter.
Last year's venue was aboard the luxury cruise ship Norwegian Sky that sailed from Miami to Havana and the Bahamas. Some of the previous venues were in Florida, Puerto Rico, Las Vegas and Hungary.
