VILLAMOR: YOU WILL SEE AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BOOM-BOOM ON DEC. 2 (WITH PHOTOS)

PhilBoxing.com

CEBU CITY -- One week before the ring comeback of erstwhile darling of Philippine boxing Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista whose star was unceremoniously dimmed by a first round demolition courtesy of Chihuahua warrior Daniel Ponce de Leon, ALA Gym chief trainer Edito Villamor has declared that the boxing world "will see an entirely new Boom-Boom come Dec. 2."

"You will see a new Bautista come Dec. 2," Villamor declared. "His defeat against de Leon sunk deep in him and has profoundly changed him -- both inside and outside the ring. Where before he rams himself into his opponent inside the ring, now he is more agile and got a lot of head movements. He is evolving into a complete fighter."

The 21-year-old Bautista, who still got a fearsome win-loss record of 21-1 with 17KOs, will take on Mexican champion Jose Antonio Meza (23-3-0 16KOs) who had earlier declared that he will "shame Bautista in front of his people."

Bautista's future hinges a lot on this fight as another devastating loss may plunge him deep into the abyss. But a highly confident Villamor said that it won't happen. "He (Bautista) will come out with a bang," Villamor said. "He is more focused now, more mature and very hungry. I'm very confident that he will come out of this fight victorious."

Stablemate Z Gorres, who regularly spars with Bautista, echoed Villamor's statements. "Yes, Boom-Boom has improved a lot now," Gorres said. "Now he realizes that you can't meet those punches head on. You need to duck those punches in order to survive."

The Bautista-Meza fight will headline the Dec. 2 boxing event at the historic Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City dubbed as 'Payback' and is promoted by Third Force Promotions.
