Pacquiao tells Arum: "No Deal"

PhilBoxing.com

Top Rank founder and CEO Bob Arum arrived in the country on a private plane in a huff on Friday and left hours later empty-handed.

The 86-year-old lawyer-promoter travelled to Manny Pacquiao?s hometown General Santos City for what was supposed to be a face-to-face meeting with the newly-crowned WBA welterweight champion Pacquiao on the latter?s future plans.

Nothing happened. There was no deal made during the meeting.

According to Arum, as reported by BoxingScene, Pacquiao wants to fight three more times - once in 2018, twice in 2019, and then the then 40-year-old ring legend will hang his gloves for good.

?The meeting was very cordial and informative,? Arum was quoted as saying. ?We know what he wants. He wants a fight this year and two more next year and then Sayonara.?

The Philippine senator, who wrested the WBA welterweight championship from Lucas Matthysse of Argentina on July 15 in Kuala Lumpur, has expressed his desire to fight again in December against an opponent yet to be named.

Top Rank took care of the broadcasting rights in the United States, and placed the bout on ESPN+.

That GenSan meeting was the former boxer-promoter tandem?s first since the Horn fight in Brisbane.

The Pacman had recently announced his official cessation of relationship with Arum, making it known that he is a free agent.

?I, through MP Promotions, will be handling any and all negotiations for my next fight. Nobody is authorized to speak on my behalf. You know my number, call me,? Pacquiao wrote on social media.

Also recently, promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, signified his intentions to sign Pacquiao to appear on DAZN, which is a new streaming service set to be launched next month.

Hearn's oufit signed a multi-year deal to provide content to DAZN and he wants Pacquiao to be a featured fighter on the service.

DAZN will be a direct competitor to ESPN+, which is ESPN's new streaming service which made it's debut in June. Arum's company has an exclusive deal to provide content to ESPN.
