MORALDE DROPS MUWENDO TWO TIMES EN ROUTE TO A UD VICTORY

FRESNO, CA -- John Vincent Moralde of General Santos City in the Philippines registered the most important win in his career so far when he knocked down erstwhile undefeated Ugandan lightweight Ismail Muwendo two times in their 8-round fight and won by unanimous decision on the undercard of the Jerwin Ancajas vs Jonas Sultan IBF world super flyweight championship at the Save Mart Center here Saturday night (Sunday morning in Manila. The scores were 78-74, 78-74, 77-73 all in favor for Moralde who bounced back impressively from his last fight's loss against Toka Kahn Clary last December.
Moralde caught Muwendo with a wicked left cross midway in the very first round and scored his first knock down of the fight. Muwendo recovered fast and begun to pressured Moralde and took the 3rd and 4th rounds but Moralde begun to slipped Muwendo's punches and toward the end of the 5th round sent Muwendo again to the canvas with another huge left to Muwendo's face. Muwendo tried to deliver a knockout punch in the remainder of the fight but Moralde smartly avoided any close skirmish.
Moralde now improves his record to 20 wins, 1 loss with 10 stoppages while Muwendo absorbed his first loss and went down to 19-1-0, 12 KOs.
