FRESNO, CA -- Both Jerwin Ancajas and Jonas Sultan scaled in at identical 123.4 lbs during the second day weighin done at The Courtyard by Marriott Hotel here Saturday morning ahead of their IBF world super flyweight championship tonight (Sunday morning in Manila) at the 16,000 capacity Save Mart Center inside the University of California Fresno Campus.
Ancajas (29-1-1, 20KOs), who wrested the title from Puerto's McJoe Arroyo on Sep. 3, 2016 and has successfully defended it four times since will take on fellow Filipino Sultan (14-3-0, 9KOs) who became his mandatory challenger by virtue of his win against former world champion Johnriel Casimero, also of the Philippines, last September.
The IBF stipulates that both fighters should not weigh more than 10 pounds of the contracted fighting weight during the second day weighin. In this case, Ancajas and Sultan were only 8.4 lbs over their superfly 115 lbs fighting weight.
The weighin was supervised by IBF supervisor Rob Scott.
The first fight will start at 3:00 p.m. local time. The TV broadcast on ESPN+ which will carry the Kal Yafai vs David Carmona and the Ancajas-Sultan fights will start at 6:30 p.m. local time (9:30 a.m. Manila time).
