CHICAGO -- The Golden State Warriors collapsed in the final 12 minutes of Game 4 on Tuesday night and the Houston Rockets took advantage by scoring a 95-92 squeaker to tie the Western Conference Finals at 2-2.
Game Five of this best-of-seven affair is Thursday night (Friday morning in the Philippines) at the Toyota Center in Houston.
James Harden led Houston with 30 points despite a bad shooting night where he canned only 11-of-26. Chris Paul turned in 27 while Eric Gordon came off the bench with 14, outscoring the entries Warriors reserves by 2.
Kevin Durant had 27 for Golden State while Steph Curry added 28. Draymond Green had his usual all-around fare with 11 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. But the Warriors relinquished a double-digit fourth quarter advantage by making only three of their 18 field goals in the final 12 minutes.
"I think we ran out of gas," Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told The San Francisco Chronicle after presiding over a game in which his team missed 54 shots while allowing Houston to make three more 3s and 10 more free throws.
The Rockets shot only 39 percent from the field and 31.6 from 3-point range, but they didn't give up despite trailing 82-70 in the final frame. Houston also fell on an early 12-0 hole.
