DONAIRE SR WILL HELP FORMULATE RING STRATEGY FOR PACQUIAO TO DEFEAT MATTHYSSE

 Nonito Donaire Sr.
It has been reported that Nonito Donaire Sr. was tapped by Manny Pacquiao to become one of his trainers in preparation for his world title fight against Lucas Matthysse of Argentina on July 15 at the Axiata Arena in Malaysia.
Donaire Sr. or Mang Dodong, confirmed the report and at the same time thankful for the opportunity given to him by the eight-division world champion and now Philippine senator.
"Nagpapasalamat at binigyan ako ng pagkakataon na mapasama sa Team Pacquiao," Mang Dodong said.
According to Mang Dodong, it was during the Elorde Awards (held every March 25 in memory of the birth of the Great Flash Elorde) when Pacquiao talked to him about the possibility of joining the training camp of the Pambansang Kamao.
"Nung Elorde awards kami nagkausap, and I am just glad to be part of his team," Mang Dodong added.
He just flew to Gen. Santos City from San Leandro (California) last Sunday, but already had a taste of what to expect within the training camp, as he made some three rounds of mitts with the fighting senator.
Mang Dodong is no stranger to boxing fans. He's not only a father to Nonito, but he was the trainer who honed his son's skills that made him champion in three weight divisions....and the rest as we all know is history.
And with his expertise, Mang Dodong said, he and Buboy (Fernandez) will collaborate in the fight strategy of Pacquiao against Matthysse, the reigning WBA world welterweight champion.
"Magtulungan kami ni Buboy sa anumang strategy na kailangan naming maibigay kay Manny," added Mang Dodong, who is also a native of Gen. Santos City. (Virgi T. Romano)
