From This Corner: WILL THERE BE A PACQUIAO-MARQUEZ II NOW?

The fight fans want to see now is Pacquiao-Marquez II.

Juan Miguel Marquez is done with the game Rocky Juarez. Putting on a masterful boxing clinic, Marquez out boxed and outmaneuvered Juarez and won an impressive unanimous decision in Arizona last November 3.

Throwing precise combinations and keeping Juarez in the middle of the ring, Marquez ably defended his WBC Super Featherweight tile which he won from Marco Antonio Barrera last March.

Juarez bravely offered resistance. However, his boxing skills could not match the Mexican ?dinamita?. A nasty cut caused by a clash of heads in the first round did not help Juarez any bit. His corner worked feverishly to control it but the wound refused to be contained and became a distraction for Juarez all fight long.

Now the phones should start buzzing and the emails should start flying as the stage is possibly set for a blockbuster of a promotion featuring two of the hottest fighters in the division.

Add to this the fact that the draw Manny Pacquiao and Marquez had deserves a rematch. Marquez managed to survive the three knockdowns in the opening round the first time around and salvaged a draw from a dire situation.

The issue of who is the bigger draw between Marquez and Pacquiao will be an item in the negotiations because it could well determine who gets the bigger purse. Keep in mind that Marquez is the WBC title holder. I believe though Pacquiao is the bigger draw because he does sell more tickets in his fights. The large Filipino communities in the US will troop to the fight to support Pacquiao or watch him on Pay per View.

What?s more, Pacquiao injects excitement into every fight and he is sure to attract ticket buyers from fans outside of Pinoys and Mexicans. Anybody who loves the fight game knows that Pac Man is the Real Thing.

Given this, Top Rank and Golden Boy can be expected to come up with a deal that should be sweet for both fighters because executives from both camps know that Pacquiao-Marquez II is a sure hit at the gate, in Pay per View and in merchandising.

Pacquiao will wait for the best possible offer. So will Marquez. Fight fans everywhere are hoping that the best bid will be for Round 2 of Pacquiao-Marquez.

Who would win? It would definitely be a toss up.

Motivation would be the decisive factor in such a duel. Both fighters are arguably in the best possible shape of their careers and are fighting with more wisdom than ever before. Marquez and Pacquiao have become experts in protracted struggles, showing superb skills in fights that have gone the distance.

Pacquiao would want to add Marquez to his list of Mexican also-rans while Marquez would want to prove that he can handle the Pacman anew and win over him the next time around.

Marquez is aching for the big fight that would make him a bigger star than he already is. It?s not that he is not acknowledged as one of the best in the game. It?s just that he needs a larger than life promotion that will etch his place more firmly in the annals of the sport. A rematch with Pacquiao can give him that.

The title, the money and the perks should be quite adequate for the two and therefore pride should be the primary motivating factor that will carve out a victory for either one.

Fight fans can?t wait for Pacquiao-Marquez II.
