NBA Playoffs -- Warriors opens title defense with Spurs rout

OAKLAND -- The Golden State Warriors opened their title defense in impressive fashion on Saturday night, blasting the San Antonio Spurs, 113-92, at the Oracle Arena.
Klay Thompson made 11 of 13 field goals, including 5-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc, to lead all scorers with 27 points. Kevin Durant had a superb all-around effort of 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while Draymond Green added 12 points and 11 assists as Golden State made 44 of 81 field goals.
The No.2 seed in the Western Conference, the Warriors soared to a 28-17 lead after one quarter and never looked back. The defending champs drilled 10 triples in 22 tries (45.5 percent) and completely dominated the boards, 51-30.
"We had the deer in the headlights look in the first quarter," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said of San Antonio's lethargic start.
Rudy Gay paced San Antonio with 15 while LaMarcus Aldridge and Bryn Forbes each had 14. But the Spurs couldn't find any rhythm offensively, hitting just 32 of 80 field goals for a low 40 percent rate.
