MARES BEATS GUTIERREZ BY TECHNICAL DECISION

StubHub Center, Carson, CA -- Abner Mares beats Andres Gutierrez via an announced unanimous decision here Saturday night. The fight was stopped by referee due to an accidental cuts in round 10. Scores: 100-90, 99-91, 99-91 in favor of Mares who successfully defended his WBA world featherweight title.
Mares dominated the fight throughout starting round one. After the fight he called out Leo Sta Cruz telling him to win his fight against Avalos so they can have a rematch. Mares is now 31-2-1, 15KO and Gutierrez drops to 35-2-1, 25KO.
