ESTRADA EDGES CUADRAS

CARSON, CA -- Juan Francisco Estrada (36-2-0, 25KOs) of Hermosillo, Mexico scored a knockdown in round ten and edges fellow Mexican Carlos Cuadras (36-2-1, 27KOs) of Mexico City to win their WBC world super flyweight title eliminator fight Saturday night at the StubHub Center here.
All three judges, Tim Cheatham, Max DeLuca and Edward Hernandez Sr had Estrada ahead by one point, 114-113, in their scorecards.
Cuadras was initially announced by Michael Buffer as the winner and later on he corrected himself and announced that Juan Francisco Estrada was really the real winner. The mistake was reminiscent of the Steve Harvey boo-boo at a Miss Universe Pageant when he announced Miss Columbia as the winner instead of Miss Philippines.
