Jhack Tepora Moves Up in Weight, Faces South Africa's Lusanda Komanisi for the Vacant WBO Inter-Continental Featherweight Title

CEBU CITY ? Undefeated prospect Jhack Tepora (20-0-0, 15KOs) has moved up to featherweight and will take on former world champion Lusanda Komanisi (21-3-0, 18KOs) of South Africa for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental featherweight title on Sep. 23 at a still determined venue in East London, South Africa's south eastern coast, Tepora's handlers at OPSI has informed Philboxing.
Tepora, 24, mostly fought in the super bantamweight and held titles in the division as WBF Asia-Pacific champion, PBF champion, WBO Asia-Pacific champion and WBO Oriental champion.
Tepora was to defend his WBO Oriental belt against Emmanuel Domiguez of Mexico last July 5 in Bohol but the card was canceled when OPSI's co-main event fighter Christian Araneta was injured.
After the cancellation, according to OPSI, Tepora had challenged knockout artist Jeo Santisima of the ALA Gym but has been turned down and was ?bluntly told that sponsors would frown on a Tepora vs Santisima fight.?
Komanisi became the IBO world featherweight champion when he knocked out fellow South African Macbute Sinyabi in the 5th round on July 18, 2014. He successfully defended the title twice both against Filpino Roli Gasca on Dec. 15, 2014 and Oct. 16, 2015. Komanisi's last outing was against South African Tello Lithebe last July 2 that Komanisi won by 2nd round knockout.
A win by Tepora over Komanisi will put the Cebuano power puncher in the mix against featherweight stars including world champion Oscar Valdez who will face undefeated Filipino and No. 4 ranked Genesis Servania on Sep. 22; No. 1 ranked Joseph Diaz Jr and former world champions Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg. Tepora will also be in a collision path with ALA Gym stalwarts Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo (rated No. 2) and Albert Pagara (No. 12).
