A REVIVAL TO REKINDLE LOST GLORY By Felman Gingoyon PhilBoxing.com Mon, 24 Jul 2017 The maiden edition of Cebu Amateur Boxing Revival is set to take place on the 5th of August. Venue will be the scenic Capitol grounds in front of the gorgeous facade of Cebu Provincial Capitol. Fights start at 6 pm and are free to the public. Twelve bouts will be contested in kids, school boys, junior and youth division from six different boxing teams in Cebu. First bout will be in the kids/ novice class and will showcase Carmen Boxing Club's Henderson Hontelano against Wyn Cabradilla of 10,000 BC Boxing Club in 26 kgs in the first bout. Another 10,000 BC Boxing pug Justin Trazo takes on Roderick Getalada, also of Carmen in 28 kgs, Clinton Martinez of Phil-Aust Boxing Club against Earl Abapo of KJ Cataraja Boxing Club in 30 kgs. Teammates David Tugot and Raffy Enicita, both of KJ Cataraja Boxing takes on each other in a 32 kg bout. Fifth bout will be in the school boys/ developmental class and will feature Mandaue pugs, Jayron Cvuuuole of Phil-Aust Boxing against Louie Jay Tomale of Labogon Boxing Club in 36 kgs., John Belodo of RWS Boxing Gym squares off with Carlos Canedo of 10,000 BC Boxing Club, Alex Del Rio of Phil-Aust Boxing versus Charles Darwin Dosdos of Labogon Boxing Club in 42 kgs. John Gabriel Tapales of RWS Boxing Club up against 10,000 BC's Christian Gabriel Gingoyon in 42 kgs. John Gabriel is the younger brother of former WBO bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales. Ninth bout onwards will be in the junior boys/ experienced class. Big Yellow Boxing Gym's John Paul Gabunilas battles RWS Boxing Team fighter Jake Tabanao, younger sibling of featherweight contender Neil Johnb Tabanao in 45 kgs. Ken Bellita of KJ Cataraja Boxing contends with Yer Roge Gura of Big Yellow Boxing in 46 kgs., Clark Sanchez of KJ Cataraja Boxing versus Jim Paul Dignos of Phil-Aust Boxing and Kervin Aresco of Carmen Boxing Club trades leathers with Limbert Cainap of Big Yellow Boxing in 48 kgs. Cebu Amateur Boxing Revival is being initiated by ALA Boxing Gym together with ABAP Central Visayas and PSC Visayas and will showcase tournaments twice a month. Possible venues for subsequent events in the tournament will be Robinsons Galleria, SM Seaside, Insular Mall, South Town Centre among others.
