JASON PAGARA vs TERRY TZOURAMANIS IN THE WORKS FOR SEP 16

Jason Pagara.

WBO No. 1 super lightweight Jason Pagara of the Philippines will see action on the undercard of the Milan Melindo vs Hekkie Budler IBF world junior flyweight championship scheduled on Sep. 16 in Cebu City and may face Australia's Terry Tzouramanis who has a record of 17 wins, 3 losses and 3 draws. But first Tzouramanis will have to win his fight this coming Friday against fellow Australian Andrew Wallace as the two will vie for the vacant Australia-Victoria State super lightweight title.

?I was asked by ALA matchmaker Edito Villamor to look for a tough Australian boxer to fight Jason Pagara on September 16th in Cebu over 10 rounds non title,? Tzouramanis' promoter Peter Maniatis has informed Philboxing. ?Terry needs to be impressive [against Wallace] and I will have him available against Pagara.? The Tzouramanis-Wallace fight on Friday is a rematch of their 2012 bout in which Wallace won by split decision.

Maniatis opined that because of Jeff Horn's victory over Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao on July 2, Australian boxers are now more confident to face oversea opponents. ?l think because of Jeff Horn, it's given Australian boxers more confidence to perform at international level and more promoters will seek boxers from Australia,? Maniatis said.

Pagara (40-2-0, 25KOs) has been the No. 1 ranked contender of Terence Crawford's WBO world super lightweight belt for sometime but Pagara's promoter Michael Aldeguer was not keen on challenging the Ring No. 4 pound-for-pound Crawford. ?We've heard that Crawford might move up to welterweight,? Aldeguer told the Cebu media during the Melindo-Budler fight announcement last July 13. ?If the title becomes vacant, that will be a good opportunity for Jason to fight for the WBO belt,? Aldeguer said.

WBO/WBC world super lightweight champion Crawford is going to face WBA/IBF/IBO world super lightweight champion Julius Indongo of Namibia on Aug. 19 in Lincoln, Nebraska in a rare unification fight of all the five world title belts in one division.
