ANOTHER HOT BOXING WEEKEND IN JINAN

PhilBoxing.com

JINAN,CHINA ? Temperatures have been soaring into the mid-30?s but this did not stop the fifth Major League Boxing fight card held here in Jinan for the past two months. This was also the fourth time where back to back weekend shows were held in the Maida Energy Sports Center.

Seven pairs of boxers ranging from bantamweight to super middleweight fought during the first day of competition. The most applauded bout was between Jinan native Wei Jiagui and Kenbati Haiyilao of Beijing. Wei got a unanimous decision in a fast paced junior middleweight four rounder.

Zeng Yujie beat Liu Bowen by unanimous decision, Lin Shenglin got a majority verdict against Cai Shindong, Dong Jianguo stopped Xiao Mingguang in three rounds, Liu Fuxin won by unanimous decision over Yu Jiahang, Miao Sen got a majority nod against Zhang Di and in the six round main bout, middleweights Biegezhati Suosailehan and Adeqiaomu Ilin fought to a unanimous draw.

MAJOR LEAGUE BOXING was formerly known as the League of Fists professional boxing tournament. This has been an ongoing project of SECA and TOP RANK to search for professional boxing talent in mainland China and is currently in the midst of their third season. The winners of the respective divisions in this tournament received a WBO Greater China title belt.

The second day of action saw Filipino expat Richard Garcia (26-23-1,7KO?s) make his third appearance in a SECA promoted fight card. Garcia has been working in Qingdao, China as a trainer but still fights when given an opportunity. He had a 1W-1L record here in China going into his fight against Shayilanbieke Kadeerbieke (0-0-2) of Shanghai.

Garcia was inactive for almost two years before he beat Baihediya in Dali by four round UD last February and lost to Shaofang Luo in Shanghai by split decision one month later. In his six rounder against Shayilanbieke, Garcia again came up short and lost 59-55 on all three judges.

One of the boxers training under Garcia, unbeaten welterweight prospect Dong Youli (8-0-1, 5KO?s) stopped Zhou Songkunpeng in two rounds.

Day two had boxers ranging from 122 to 154lbs.For the other results from day two: Liu Shuchang beat Liu Hao by TKO in round two, Xia Wei knocked won Jing Fengyun in round two and cruised to a unanimous decision win, Aersi Wulazi won by unanimous verdict against Liu Wei, Saierlan Muerzhabieke beat Ji Qingbin who did not answer the bell for the third round due to a possible broken jaw and Li Xiaolong won against Lu He who did not go into the sixth and final round due to a painful left shoulder which was possibly dislocated.

The fights were officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) of China.
