By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Wed, 31 May 2017
 Casey Morton.
CEBU ? The central island of the Philippines has long been considered as the country?s fight capital but women?s boxing is still a rare sight.
Casey Morton, an undefeated boxer from Oahu, Hawaii, could very well ignite interest in the distaff side of the sport when she fights on the undercard of "ENGKWENTRO DINHI SA MANDAUE": VISAYAS VS. MINDANAO on June 10 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Morton (4W-0L-3D,0KO) turned pro in 2014 after a fine amateur career that saw her win the Golden Gloves Championship Open/Elite Division and Northern California's USA Boxing Regional Championship in 2011. She was ranked number 3 by USA Boxing in 2012 and crowned the Adidas National Boxing Champion, also receiving the Best Female Boxer Award.
It took her only two and a half months of training for her first amateur contest and her crowd pleasing style made her win Fight of the Night and Fighter of the Night honors.
For her fight in Mandaue City, she will be facing a Thai opponent, Phannaluk Kongsang (0-2L), whose two fights were held in Singapore and China.
The June 10 Mandaue fight card will feature the fighting Saludar brothers, Vic and Froilan as well as undefeated Mindanao prospects Vince Paras and Robert Paradero.
Morton is of Polynesian and Asian decent and is currently based in San Francisco, California. She dreams of becoming a world champion and in between fights and training has been involved in supporting youth outreach organizations. Fight fans can watch her interviews and training videos posted on youtube.
This boxing event is promoted by Kenneth Rontal of the Championship Boxing Development of the Philippines.
