JOSEPH DIAZ DEFEATS MANUEL AVILA TO CAPTURE NABF FEATHER TITLE

T-MOBILE ARENA, Las Vegas -- In the first TV fight on the undercard of CANELO ALVAREZ vs JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR, Joseph Diaz (24-0-0, 13KOs) of Downey, CA outpointed Manuel Avila (22-1-0, 8KOs) of Fairfield, CA with scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 99-91 to capture the NABF featherweight championship over 10 rounds. Diaz cut Avila's eyelid in the fifth round who suffered the first loss of his career after 23 outings.
