Real PPV Money Not With McGregor (Results of Online Poll)

PhilBoxing.com

An article was recently posted on Philboxing.com with the title, ?Who Should Floyd Mayweather Fight to reach 50-0?. This article was in response to the boxing fans reaction that Connor McGregor was ?the fight the fans want to see?, according to Floyd ?Money? Mayweather. In that article 2 boxers (Manny Pacquiao and Gennady ?Easy Work? Gennady) and a MMA fighter Connor McGregor were mentioned as possible opponents.

Mayweather stated the ?the only fight he is interested in? is Connor McGregor and he has to be guaranteed a purse of $100 million to come out of retirement. Mayweather also said he?s a businessman. A fight against any of the aforementioned opponents would no doubt be labeled a ?Superfight? and there is no doubt it would be offered to the buyers at a retail price of $99.00 (Really $100 bucks).

Not surprisingly, the ?buzz? in the street is not there for McGregor as an opponent. True boxing fans cite McGregor as having no boxing experience (0-0,0KOs). Will this fight be an MMA fight or a boxing match? McGregor has an MMA record of 24-3, 18KOs. An MMA fighter kicks, punches, chokes, wrestles, etc. Boxers get disqualified when they do those types of things. Therefore, inquiring minds want to know if McGregor will be able to use these assets against Mayweather should they fight, or will he be limited to just boxing should they fight? If that?s the case, it?s like pulling all a lions teeth out and declawing the lion then have the lion fight with a grizzly bear. How effective would the lion be?

Philboxing conducted a Poll to see who the fans would pay 100 bucks via PPV to see Mayweather fight. Is Connor McGregor the ?fight the fans want to see?? The results of the Poll were as follows:

To date, 958 readers took the Poll.

Only 4% (38) wanted to see MMA fighter McGregor as an opponent for Mayweather.

17% (163) chose Gennandy ?Easy Work? Golovkin.

79% (757) are in favor of Manny Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch.

What does this indicate? Considering how PPV performed in 2016*, listen to the fans. Any good businessman knows it?s about supplying a demand with a quality product. It appears no matter what the PPV sales revenue would be for a Mayweather-McGregor fight (likely low based on Fan Poll results), A Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch would be in the Stratosphere and by far the better business decision, if this is about money.

*As per various internet sources, PPV sales were Poor.
