ALBERT PAGARA DEFEATS RAYMOND COMMEY IN COMEBACK FIGHT By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Sun, 27 Nov 2016 ![]() CEBU CITY -- Comebacking 'Prince' Albert Pagara fought a more cautious approach in his 10-round featherweight fight against visiting Raymond Commey of Ghana but got the job done winning by a wide unanimous decision on the undercard of the Melindo-Sakkreering IBF Interim world light flyweight championship at the Cebu Coliseum Saturday night. Pagara was tentative in the opening two rounds that allowed Commey to take the initiative. Pagara got busier in the next couple of rounds as the fight devolved into some sort of a chess match as Pagara connected with his 1-2s but also got his fair share of punishment from Commey who seemed to connect more in the middle rounds. But Commey faded in the in the last three rounds allowing Pagara to dictate the tempo and dominate Commey as the fight came to a close. Judges Romar Embodo, Edgar Olalo and Noel Flores came up with identical of scores of 99-91 giving only one round to Commey which was not well received by the crowd who cheered Commey as he took a bow before getting out of the ring. Pagara is now back in the win column after the disastrous defeat he suffered against Mexican Cesar Juarez last July 7 in San Mateo, California. His record now stands at 27-1-0 with 18 stoppages while Commey, who previously held the WBA International super bantamweight belt, dropped to 16-4-0, 9KOs. ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer said Albert was quite tentative "but that was expected of him coming from that devastating knockout he suffered against Juarez. But overall, it was a good win for Albert to get his confidence back." Click here to view a list of other articles written by Dong Secuya. ![]() |
