PACMAN WON'T GIVE BARRERA ANY CHANCE TO GET EVEN

PhilBoxing.com

Filipino sports hero Manny Pacquiao boldly declared he won't give his Mexican rival Marco Antonio Barrera any chance to get even with him as he looks forward to more big fights against the rest of the best in the super featherweight division including a return bout with Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez.

"Yun nga ang nasa plano namin na kalabanin si Marquez kaya hindi ko bibigyan ng pagkakataon na makabawi si Barrera sa akin (That really out plan to fight Marquez that is why I won't give Barrera a chance to avenge his loss to me)," said Pacquiao.

Pacquiao is gearing up for his keenly-awaited rematch against Barrera on October 6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

When pressed by reporters on what round he's going to knock out Barrera, Pacquiao stood firm on his earlier statement that
their bout is scheduled for 12 rounds and he intends to fight the full distance.

"Hindi ko masabi na pabagsakin ko siya kasi mahirap na magsalita ng patapos. Ang alam ko ay nag-ensayo rin ng todo si Barrera para talunin niya ako pero hindi ko papayagan na mangyari yun (I can't say if I'm going to knock him out. All I know is that he's training hard for this fight because he want to beat me, but I'm not going to let it happen)," said Pacquiao.

"Ang masasabi ko lang na magandang laban eto kasi si uhaw siya na talunin ako para ma-iangat uli niya ang pangalan niya, uhaw din ako na pigilan ang anumang balak niya. Kailangan ko ring mapangalagaan ang pangalan ko na nasa taas (All I can say is that it's going to be a great fight because he's aching to beat me so he can regained his reputation, I'm also aching to stop whatever his plan is) I also have to protect my name being on top)," added Pacquiao.

As he had always shown in his previous fights, Pacquiao said he is willing to fight to death knowing that he's carrying the hope of the 80 million-plus Filipinos on his shoulders.

"Ibuhos ko lahat nang suntok ko - Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao - kay Barrera," said Pacquiao in jest, referring to the three major islands of the Philippine archipelago.

In their first encounter, Pacman came as the heavy underdog but went on to score one of the most stunning upsets in boxing history when he brutally dismantled Barrera in the 11th round on November 16, 2003 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
