TAKUYA WATANABE WINS WBO ASIA PACIFIC JUNIOR LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 16 Sep 2016

Former World Boxing Council Youth champion Takuya Watanabe has won the vacant WBO Asia Pacific junior lightweight title when he turned back a furious attack by Thailand?s Amin Sor Wangmoo in the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on Wednesday.
Hall of Fame media and boxing man Joe Koizumi reported that Watanabe ?fought back hard? and halted the Thai ?with a barrage of punches? with referee Surat Soikrachang stopping the fight at 2:13 of the 6th round.
Amin had earlier nailed Watanabe with a cracking overhand right and sent him backwards on unsteady legs in the second round.
However, Watanabe regained his composure and punching power to batter the taller Thai in every succeeding round before the referee decided to call a halt to save Amin from further punishment.
With the win Watanabe moved to 30-6-1 with 16 knockouts while Amin dropped to 14-2-2 with 11 knockouts.
The fight supervisor was WBO Asia Pacific head Leon Panoncillo.
