GEJON'S FLIGHT TO JAPAN DELAYED; GEJON, TRAINER DECLARE READINESS TO FIGHT NIIDA
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Mon, 20 Aug 2007

CEBU CITY -- Eriberto "Yukka" Gejon, who will again challenge WBA Minimumweight Champion Yutaka Niida of Japan on September 1, has been stuck in Cebu after the release of his Japan visa had been delayed. Gejon was supposed to leave for Japan last week together with trainer Brix Flores.
"There were changes in the Japanese embassy's procedure of acquiring a visa and the processing takes a lot longer now," Rex 'Wakee' Salud, Gejon's manager, has informed PhilBoxing.com. "Hopefully, the visa will be released this week so Gejon and Flores will be able to leave for Japan on Friday," Salud said.
Gejon lost to Niida in a close 10-round technical decision on Sep. 25, 2005 in Japan in a fight many considered Gejon had done enough to win. Since then, Niida had successfully defended his belt twice and is now sporting a 21-1-3 record with 8 KOs while Gejon had also won twice and has now upped his record to 23-1-1 (14 KOs) with an only loss to Niida.

Meanwhile Gejon's trainer Brix Flores has declared that his ward is now ready and eager to take on the Japanese champion once again. "We're ready, and Jun (Gejon) doesn't have the back problem that he had experienced before his first fight with Niida," Flores said.
"We will be more aggresive this time around to make sure we'll bring home the belt," Flores added.
If successful, Gejon will become the 4th Filipino world champion this year after Condes, Donaire and Gerry Pe?alosa got theirs in a span of five weeks.
