Omega Pro Sports International (OPSI) has announced a 9-bout card on the occasion the town fiesta of Balamban, a bustling town on the western seaboard of Cebu, on Sep 30 dubbed as 'Rumble sa Balamban'.
Headlining the event is Jason Canoy of the Omega Gym who takes on Jetly Purisima of General Santos in a rematch for 10 rounds bantamweight bout.
Canoy and Purisima had met on Oct 6, 2012 in Dalaguete, Cebu which resulted in a 2nd round technical draw after Purisima sustained a cut on his left eyebrow produced from an accidental headbutt.
After that fight, Canoy went on to amass a 7-2 win loss record highlighted with an upset victory over former title contender Drian Francisco. He absorbed his two loses against foreign opponents in Russia and Japan. He won his last fight against Jestoni Autida last June 11, 2016 at One Mango mall parking lot dubbed as 'Uptown Rumble'.
Meanwhile Purisima amassed a dismal 4-7-1 win-loss-draw record after his draw with Canoy.
OPSI's Angel de la Merced, in a talk with the Cebu scribes Monday, said that the Balambam event is a prelude to a bigger show they have scheduled for Nov 30 as a sequel to their 'Who's Next' boxing series
