TABUGON AND CASTROVERDE TARGET WINS IN SOUTH AFRICA
By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Fri, 29 Jul 2016

South Africa has a reputation for being one of the more difficult countries for Filipino boxers to win on the road. Gerry Castroverde and Raymund Tabugon will try to score victories on July 29 (July 30 Manila Time) in East London, South Africa.
Tabugon, who represents Sanman Gym of Gen. Santos City, stated in Sanman?s e-mail message that he can beat Makazole ?The Professor? Tete in their IBF Continental Africa super flyweight title fight slated at the Orient Theatre in East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
?I have trained seven weeks for this fight. And I?m confident that I will bring another title back home,? said Tabugon, who has 18 wins against 4 losses and 1 draw. Tabugon already has a win in South Africa last December 2014, a unanimous verdict against Luzuko Siyo.
Tete (15-1-1,10KO?s) lost in his attempt to win an IBO world title last year against Gideon Buthelezi but bounced back with a win against Ramadhan Kumbele.
?Tabugon won before in South Africa and he is confident that he will do the same thing against Tete,? said Sanman Promotions chief executive officer Jim Claude Manangquil in his e-mail message.
Castroverde (9-2,5KO?s) of the Omega Gym of Cebu, will go up against South African Aphiwe Mboyiya (13-2-1,6KO?s) in the same fight card for the IBF Youth super featherweight title. Last year Castroverde scored a big win against former title challenger Lorenzo Villanueva.
Meanwhile on the same day in at the Emerald Casino in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, South Africa, Australia based Filipino Jack Asis will defend his IBO superfeatherweight title against South African Malcolm Klassen.
