SANTISIMA STOPS BAJAWA ON IDOL 2 (COMPLETE RESULTS & PHOTOS)

PhilBoxing.com

Hot super bantamweight prospect Jeo 'Santino' Santisima continued his knockout streak by stopping Junior Bajawa of Indonesia in the 3rd round Saturday night at the Mandaue City Sports Complex on ALA Promotions' IDOL 2 boxing event.

From the outset, Santisima threw left-right combinations with bad intent but Bajawa opted to employ an impenetrable defense covering his face and body with his two hands high up. In the second round, Santisima kept on stalking Bajawa trying to target Bajawa's body on the side, but like a Clottey's defense against Pacquiao, he was able to nullify Santisima's bombs. In the third round, Santisima varied his punches and threw uppercuts and overhand rights instead. Finally one of the overhands was able to penetrate and hit Bajawa's head that put the Indonesian to the seat of his pants. Bajawa didn't try to get up to beat the count. Time of stoppage was at 1:31 of the third round.

Santisima improved to 11 wins, 2 losses with 10 knockouts.

Jerusalem drops Refugio.

In the co-main event for 10 rounds minimumweight, undefeated Melvin 'Gringo' Jerusalem dished out a dominant performance against Jonathan Refugio, scored a knockdown in the 4th round, and won by wide unanimous decision with identical scores of 98-91 from the three judges.

Jerusalem out sped Refugio and connected consistently from the get go culminating in a 4th round beating. In the 5th and 6th however, Jerusalem slowed down allowing Refugio to connect with hard rights and taking the rounds. Jerusalem came back in the 7th and coasted to victory and even almost stopping Refugio, who ran out of air himself, in the last round.

Jerusalem, who defeated former IBF minimumweight champion Floranted Condes in his last fight, is now 10-0 and added WBC International flyweight champion Refugio to his list of victims. Refugio drops to 15-5-4, 3KO.

Waminal decisions Tejones.

In the fourth fight of the night at 8 rounds bantamweight, Jess Rhay Waminal (9-1-1) edges Joe Tejones (4-1-0) by split decision in a tactical and rather dull fight. Judges' scores: Edwin Barrientos ? 76-75 for Tejones; Arnie Najera ? 76-75 for Waminal; and Noel Flores, 77-74 for Waminal.

Vitor drops Varona.

In the third fight at 6 rounds bantamweight, a classic left hook to the liver by Virgel Vitor (8-1-0) dropped Paul Varona (2-6-1) who was able to beat the count. Another flurry by Vitor to the body sent Varona to the canvas for good. Time: 2:59 in the second round.

Esneth Domingo connects at Liboon.

In the second fight, 6 rounds junior flyweight, Esneth Domingo and Elmer Liboon engaged in toe to toe battle with neither fighter backing up in what was probably the best fight in the evening. Domingo (4-0-0) connected with several hard punches to the head and boy of Liboon (2-4-0) but Liboon proved to be a tough customer and even connected his own hard counters. In the 4th round, Liboon begun to wilt from Domingo's pressure and slowed down. In the fifth, a hard right by Domingo that landed squarely to the jaw of Liboon dropped Liboon to the canvas unable to beat the count. Time: 1:47 of the 4th.
