SANTISIMA, BAJAWA CORDIAL BEFORE SATURDAY'S FIREWORKS ON IDOL 2

PhilBoxing.com

CEBU CITY ? Local knockout artist Jeo Santisima and his Indonesian opponent Junior Bajawa sit side by side during Thursday's presscon at the Golden Prince Hotel here as if they were long time friends and both spoke softly but make no mistake about it, both will go for each other's throat come Saturday night on ALA Promotion's IDOL 2 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.

Bajawa's trainer and manager Leo Daroguthni said that they have studied Santisima's fights on films and they were ready to take on Santisima who knocked out his last eight opponents, adding ?We hope to get a knockout win.?

Bajawa has a dismal 14-8-0 win-loss-draw record and lost his last seven fights to boxers from the Philippines, Thailand and Australia but nonetheless promised to give a good fight.

?I know how [Santisima] fights and I'm going to win,? Bajawa said thru his manager, with his manager adding, ?We hope so.?

Santisima (10-2-0, 9KO), on the other hand, was gun shy to even say anything, only saying, ?I'll try my best.?

In the co-main event, Melvin 'Gringo' Jerusalem (9-0-0, 7KO) who will take on WBC International light flyweight champion Jonathan Refugio (15-4-4, 3KO) said he expected a war, ?Since Refugio does not hit as hard as Condes.? Jerusalem defeated former IBF minimumweight world champion Floranted Condes in his last outing Feb. 27 via unanimous decision.

Fighting on the undercard are Jess Rhey Waminal (8-1-1) who will take on Joe Tejones (4-0-0); Virgel Vitor (7-1-0) vs Paul Varona (2-5-1); Esneth Domingo (3-0-0) vs Elmer Liboon (2-3-0); and Lorenz Ladrada (2-0-0) vs Tomas Rebusit (0-4-0).

According ALA Promotions officer Lani Perpetua, all general admission tickets for the event have already been sold out with only the lower box and the VIP area tickets available. The coliseum had been configured to accommodate 5,000 persons.

The weighin will tomorrow, Friday, at the J Center Mall in Mandaue City at 11:00 a.m.
