2016 NBA FINALS -- Splash is back: Curry and the Warriors sit on the verge of back-to-back titles By Adeline Deladisma PhilBoxing.com Sun, 12 Jun 2016 ![]() CLEVELAND -- Much has been said about the league MVP and his quiet performances in the first three games of this Finals series. Steph Curry came back in a big way in Game 4, leading the Golden State Warriors to a 108-97 victory over the home team Cleveland Cavaliers. After the excitement of a Game 3 blowout, the crowd was raucous and ready for the series to extend even further into the summer. The start was promising for the Cavs and they ended the first half with a 55-50 lead. Cleveland forward Kevin Love entered the game in the first quarter after clearing the NBA concussion protocol. Love was absent from the prior game after suffering a concussion in the second game of the series. The second half became a tale of two teams with Golden State playing their brand team ball and Cleveland relying heavily on Lebron James and Kyrie Irving. The duo accounted for all but 5 of the 18 shots attempted by the Cavs in the last 24 minutes of the game. The Warriors were led by their deadly three point shooting combo of Curry and Klay Thompson. Together they scored 63 points. As a team the Dubs shot a ridiculous 47.2% from behind the arc. Their 17 made threes were a single Finals game record. Behind the stars was also the integral play of their supporting cast. Harrison Barnes started strong early in the first quarter with 8 quick points while his mates were still searching for their shots. He also had a pivotal 3 pointer in the 4th quarters that helped sealed the Dubs' victory. James Michael McAdoo and former Cleveland lifer Anderson Varejao added some key minutes for the defending champions. Thompson tipped his hat to their contributions saying, "Got to give a lot of credit to [them]. Those guys haven't been getting in a good rhythm lately because they haven't been getting minutes, but they came out and played with great poise and played their hardest, and that's what we need out of everybody." The series returns to Oracle Arena on Monday night when the Warriors look to close out and repeat as World Champions.
