CHICAGO -- After winning a historic 73 regular season games, the Golden State Warriors are a mere one game away from being eliminated in the 2016 NBA playoffs.
No thanks to Russell Westbrook, who registered 36 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists that fueled the Oklahoma City Thunder's 118-94 rout in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Westbrook's running mate, Kevin Durant, added 26 points as the Thunder took a commanding 3-1 series lead. Like their previous series wins, OKC's bigs were big in Game 4. Serge Ibaka finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds while Steven Adams pitched in 11 and 7 boards to help the Thunder out-rebound the Warriors, 56-40.
Trailing by as many as 20 points in the second quarter, Klay Thompson tired to rally the Warriors by scoring 19 in the third peirod, but the Thunder held their ground and held Golden State to just 12 fourth quarter points.
Steph Curry, the league's reigning back-to-back MVP, had a modest 19 points, making only 6 of 20 field goals. for the Warriors, who shot just 41.2 percent from the field (33 of 80) and 30 percent from 3-point range (9 of 30).
The Warriors hope to extend the series to a 6th game when they host the Thunder in Game 5 at the Oracle Arena on Thursday night (Friday AM in Manila)
