DONAIRE PROMISES IMPRESSIVE SHOWING AGAINST BEDAK

PhilBoxing.com

CEBU CITY ? Owing to the notorious flight delays for flights coming to and from Manila, five-division world champion Nonito Donaire Jr's luncheon press conference with the Cebu media Saturday noon was been delayed for more than three hours. But when 'The Filipino Flash' finally walk through the door at the Cafe Uno Restaurant inside the plush Waterfront Hotel & Casino here, the atmosphere lighten up, and Donaire, appearing in light mode and highly confident, joked around and apologized for the delay.

Donaire, who spoke in the vernacular most of the time, said he was delighted to be fighting in front of his fellow 'Bisaya'. (What's in my mind is we should win because we're fighting in Cebu and I'm so happy that I'll be fighting in Cebu for the first time knowing that the Cebuanos are very passionate in the sport of boxing), Donaire said.

As far as his preparation against his Hungarian opponent Zsolt Bedak, Donaire said they have made all the right preparations. ?We know that he moves well, being an Olympian, but we've prepared hard and looked into his weaknesses that we can exploit... He is called 'Mr Lefthook' but I've got power in my left too so he should feel my power,? Donaire said who added that he will ?look for a knockout opportunity at every round,?

Donaire Sr, Donaire's father and trainer, said that they have prepared to go full 12 rounds versus Bedak but he agreed with his son that they are looking for a knockout opportunity.

Donaire also said that they have adopted to the heat, the Philippines currently being hit by El Nino', and have made nutritional adjustments so his body can have the stamina and can withstand the rigors of the world title fight come Saturday next week.

Donaire was accompanied by his wife Rachel and their two children Jarel and Logan.

Donaire will have his only public workout Sunday afternoon at the Robinson's Galeria and plan to have light workouts at the ALA Gym in Banilad or if the heat is too much, at the hotel gym. ?We have done all the hard preparations and I don't need to over-strees my body during the fight week,? Donaire said.
