TSO TO STAKE WBC ASIA TITLE VS. YOUNG By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Tue, 05 Apr 2016 BANGKOK, Thailand -- Reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia Boxing Council super flyweight champion Rex ?The Wonder Kid? Tso of Hong Kong will make his first title-defense against former champion Young Gil Bae of South Korea on May 14 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. The 29-year old Tso is still undefeated with 18 straight wins with 11 knockouts while Young is already 38 with a record of 27 wins, 5 defeats, 1 draw and 21 KOs. Tso, a 5-foot-7 southpaw, won the vacant WBC ABCO super flyweight crown by stopping Brad Hore via a technical knockout last August 29, 2015 in Hong Kong. ?Tso is now training at the Omega Gym in Cebu, Philippines,? said promoter-manager Jay Lau of DEF Boxing Promotion in an interview by Fight News Asia last Sunday night. Lau was given the China Special Administration Region recognition by the WBC ABCO last April 3 the Royal Bangkok Sports Club in Bangkok, Thailand. Young, 38 was also cited on the same night for his achievements and received a medal given by WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman and WBC ABCO President Gen. Kovid Bhakdibhumi. ?I want to become champion again,? said Young, who fought but lost for the WBC World minimumweight title by a technical knockout from the hands of Wanheng Menayothin of Thailand last November 24 in Chomburi, Thailand. Young, who is married to reigning WBC ABCO female super flyweight champion Hee Jung Yuh, is a former WBC ABCO super flyweight champion and a former interim WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight, interim WBO light flyweight and PABA flyweight title holder. The 5-foot-5 Young previously won by a unanimous decision against Ricky Seniego at the Thailand Sports Authority last February 25. Young is now preparing for this 12-round title fight at his own gym in Gimhae City, South Korea.
