NBA -- Bucks top Pelicans, 103-92 By Nick Osen PhilBoxing.com Sun, 13 Mar 2016 MILWAUKEE --- In a match-up between two disappointing teams that came in with high hopes this year, the Milwaukee Bucks outlasted the New Orleans Pelicans, 103-92, in front of a crowd of 16, 518 fans at the BMO Harris Bradely Center. Former No.1 pick Anthony Davis led the Pelicans with 29 points and 11 rebounds while Khris ?Money? Middleton paced the Bucks with 19 points to go along with 10 rebounds and 8 assists. As is a common theme with this Bucks team, their scoring was balanced as every starter scored at least 15 points The big men for each team got off to quick starts with Davis going off with six of his team?s first 10 points and Greg Monroe producing 6 of the first 10 for the Bucks. After one quarter of play, the host Bucks led 33-28, also thanks to Middleton?s 9 points in the first. Davis quietly had 12 in the first quarter for the road team, getting a lot of chances at the line with 10 free throw attempts in the first 13 minutes of the game. Tyler Ennis came off the bench and provided a spark for the Bucks by scoring 8 points in under 3 minutes early in the second quarter, helping the squad to a 55-52 advantage at the break. The third quarter was very exciting and back and forth, led by more scoring from Davis and some hot shooting from Jerryd Bayess for Milwaukee. The Pelicans actually led 69-68 halfway through the third quarter, but the Bucks starters were too much to handle getting the lead back to 77-71 after three. A beautiful shake and bake move by Khris Middleton and a fastbreak dunk from Bayless helped Milwaukee seal the deal, as they led by double digits for most of the final quarter. The young Bucks will look to continue their win streak as they travel to Brooklyn play the underachieving Nets on Sunday, March 13. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Nick Osen. |
