NBA -- Raptors survive 50-point outburst from Lillard to beat Blazers By Mark Josef PhilBoxing.com Sun, 06 Mar 2016 TORONTO - Just when it seemed like the Raptors were going to cruise to an easy win at a sold out Air Canada Centre, Damien Lillard made the game interesting after he drained a key 3-pointer to cut the lead down to 4 points with 6:33 remaining in the game. After trailing most of the first three quarters, Lillard brought the Blazers back to within striking distance by scoring 22 of his 50 points in the 4th quarter. When asked what sparked his 4th quarter performance tonight, Lillard said "I told myself while I was sitting on the bench I'm going after this game, I'm going to go out there and take over the game. That was just my mindset." And that he certainly did. Despite starting the fourth quarter on the bench and entering in with only 9:33 minutes remaining in the game, Lillard hit four three pointers in the quarter including a clutch 3 pointer with only 2 seconds remaining to pull the Blazers within one at 115-116. Philboxing.com asked Damien what goes through his mind when he puts up those clutch 3 pointers in these close games. Lillard simply answered, "I'm trying to go take the game. That's the bottom line. I don't care about misses, I don't care about anything...nothing matters I'm just trying to go take the game." In the end, the Raptors survived Damien Lillard's onslaught with a narrow victory over the Blazers at 117-115. The Raptors dynamic guard duo of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan matched Lillard's competitiveness by combining for 66 points, including some key baskets in the dying seconds of the game to keep their team on top when the final buzzer went off.
