Sabalde also eyes KO vs. Moralde

PhilBoxing.com

LIGHTWEIGHT Anthony ?Zorro? Sabalde of Cebu is also eyeing for a knockout win against his opponent John Vincent ?Mulawin? Moralde of Davao City in their championship fight for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) International featherweight title on Feb. 13 in the main event of the ?Brawl at the Mall: Glory? at the Gaisano Mall Atrium in General Santos City.

?Murag sa akong tan-aw mag-abot dyud me ug round (The way I see it, our fight will reach the whole round),? said Sabalde in his text message.

The former two-time regional amateur boxing gold medalist, however, also wants to win by a knockout if given a chance.

?Pero kung naay chance na tumbahon si Moralde, tumbahon nako siya (But if there is a chance to knock down Moralde, I will knock him down),? said the 23-year old Sabalde, who has a record of 10 wins with 5 knockouts against 4 loses and no draw.

The 5-foot-7 Sabalde already has a total of more than 90 rounds of sparring with Adones Aguelo and Neil John Tabanao at the gym of their trainer Brix Flores in Cebu.

?Wala ko na hadlok sa iyaha maski pag naka patay na siya (Moralde) ug kalaban (I?m not afraid of him even though he killed already an opponent),? said Sabalde, who is managed by Wakee Salud.

Moralde (14 wins, 7 Kos, 0L, 0D), captured the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight title via a unanimous decision against previous undefeated Australian Brayd Smith on March 14, 2015. Smith died two days later due to head injuries.

?OK ra na siya. Kung naka patay man si Moralde part mana sa boxing. Wala sad toy suerte iyang kontra (That?s OK. If Moralde had killed someone that is part of boxing. His opponent was only not lucky.),? added Sabalde, who has won his last two fights against Bonnie Makiling (unanimous decision) and Phil Angcamor (4th round by retirement).

The 21-year old Moralde had earlier said that he will be going for a knockout win also against the southpaw Sabalde.

?If given a chance, I will knockout him out,? said the 5-foot-7 Moralde, who fights for the Sanman Promotions in General Santos City.

Sabalde is still single while Moralde will soon marry his live-in partner this year who is now 4-month old pregnant with their second child.

They already have a 5-year old son. And this makes Moralde more inspired to win against Sabalde.

Moralde, who has already started hard training and has been sparring with WBF Asia Pacific featherweight champion Rimar Metuda (9W-0L-0D-4KOs) and fellow undefeated featherweight Romero Duno (8W-0L-0D-7KOs) wants to become a future world champion.

The Brawl at the Mall: Glory is promoted by the Sanman Promotions and co-presented by the Gaisano Mall of Gensan. ? LITO DELOS REYES
