WBO APPLAUDS PANONCILLO FOR CHINA ACTIVITIES
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 28 Oct 2015

ORLANDO, Florida--The World Boxing Organization (WBO) today, thought its president Francisco Valcarcel and its founder Luis Batista Salas, has expressed unanimous approval on the in-roads and activities set forth in the China zone by its WBO Asia Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo and co-chairman Danny Leigh.
Both Valcarcel and Salas took turns in heaping praises on the activities being put forth in China through the initiative of Panoncillo and the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) that saw a tremendous increase in both activities and sanctioning returns for the WBO.
"Today I would like to cite the tremendous activities and turnaround being made in the China region, and I would like to thank Leon Panoncillo for making this possible, and for being there to effect the changes," Valcarcel said.
This year alone, the China region saw the birth of League of Fists, a tournament-format boxing program put forth by local promoter SECA in cooperation with Top Rank at the Mercedes Benz Arena's Mixing Room twice every month.
Panoncillo has worked closely with the PBC and the local boxing authorities in the last several months to revive what was previously an inactive boxing landscape in China.
Also cited was co-chairman Danny Leigh, who reported a spike in activities in the Australia and New Zealand region with 30 WBO-sanctioned bouts so far this year alone.
