 De La Torre.
THE much-awaited debut of World Boxing Federation (WBF) world super featherweight champion Harmolito "Hammer" dela Torre in the United States was postponed due to the late approval of his visa.
Dela Torre of General Santos City was supposed to fight Wanzell ?Venom? Ellison of New Jersey, USA last Oct. 23 at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.
"The late releasing of his visa was beyond our control. But what's important now is that the visa was already approved," said young manager Jim Claude Manangquil.
The fight, however, will soon be re-scheduled in the US.
"Hammer has a great team behind him with the Sanman Promotions, Adam Wilcock and his American promoter Greg Cohen," said Mananquil.
Dela Torre will just have another tune-up fight next month before he will finally see action in the US in December.
The 21-year old Dela Torre is undefeated in 16 fights and has won his last six bouts all by knockouts or stoppages.
The 5-foot-8 orthodox fighter previously stopped Eusebio Baluarte by a 4th round technical knockout at the Robinson?s Mall Gensan last June 7.
He won the vacant WBF world super featherweight title by knocking out Isack Junior of Indonesia in the 4th round at the Lagao Gym Gensan on Sept. 13, 2014.
