FISTFIEST SA GLAN: Tanallon bags PBF minimumweight crown, Duno TKOs Baluarte in 3rd round By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Thu, 08 Oct 2015 Tanallon. GLAN, Sarangani Province - There was no knockout but the championship fight between Ronie ?Ultimate Warrior? Tanallon of General Santos City and Lester John ?The Silent Penetrator? Pronco of Bukidnon turned out to be a very exciting bout held Wednesday night infront of the Glan municipal hall. Both fighters fought toe-to-toe until the end of the 10th and final round. The 22-year old Tanallon of the Sanman Stable and Promotions, however, landed the more telling blows to earn all the judges? nod for a unanimous decision victory. Judge Romy Fordeliza scored it 96-93 while judges Alberto Heramil and Sabas Ponpon Jr. saw it 99-90 and 98-91, respectively all in favor of Tanallon. It was the 8th win by the 5-foot-2 Tanallon and his 3rd by knockout against only one loss and one draw while Pronco, 22, suffered his 11th defeat against nine wins and one draw. ?Magaling at matibay din si Pronco. Buti na lang my counter punches din si Tanallon,? said promoter-manager Dexter ?Wangyu? Tan of Sanman Promotions. Tan?s co-promoter-manager Jim Claude Manangquil, on the other hand, said it was a very good fight that could earned a possible rematch in the future. ?(But) we could not have made this possible without the help of our Lord God,? said the 21-year old Manangquil, who is also the world?s youngest boxing promoter-manager. Glan Municipal Mayor Victor James Yap awarded the golden belt to Tanallon infront of thousands of boxing fans that watched the boxing card of the Sanman Promotions despite the on-going show of a live band just a few meters away. The boxing event was supported by the municipal government of Glan in celebration of the 16th Lubi-Lubi Festival. In the main supporting bout, the young and hard-punching Romeo Duno also of Sanman Stable landed countless solid blows that forced former WBO Asia Pacific Youth super lightweight champion Eusebio ?Raging Bull? Baluarte of Valencia City to quit after the third round by a technical knockout. Baluarte, 29, tried to apply his antics to destroy the concentration of his younger opponent since the start of the scheduled 8-rounder. But the 19-yeard old Duno remained calm and focused as he continuously punished Baluarte with solid body punches and jabs until the third round. Baluarte tried to show that he was not affected by the combinations thrown by the 5-foot-7 Duno. However, Baluarte was already only backpedalling in the whole third round forcing his corner to stop the fight during rest period. ?Ayokong mabogbog pa siya lalo at baka madisgrasya pa,? said veteran trainer Art Advincula. Duno, a native of Cotabato has remained undefeated with a new record of eight straight wins against no loss or draw while Baluarte dropped to 19-13-1 slate. In the undercard, JP Macadumpis fought with an inspired heart due to the presence of his huge fans from nearby hometown Balut Island as he pummeled to submission stocky Rocky Alvarez of Gensan by a TKO in the 4th round. Alvarez, who suffered a nasty cut on his right eye due to a powerful punch by Macadumpis in the 3rd round decided to quit during the rest period. In the curtain raiser, Dingdong ?Fantasy Warrior? Quinones of Gensan also landed left-right combinations to stop Chris Javellana of Jose Abad Santos in 1:07 of the 3rd round. It was only Quinones? 5th win against 15 defeats and one draw while Javellana still remained winless in his third outing. ?
