ALBERT PAGARA FACES WILLIAM GONZALEZ OF NICARAGUA FOR WBO INT'L JR FEATHER TITLE; MAGSAYO TAKES ON UNDEFEATED YARDLEY SUAREZ

PhilBoxing.com

Undefeated Filipino prospect Prince Albert Pagara (24-0-0, 17KO) will face Nicaraguan knockout artist William 'Chirizo' Gonzalez (27-5-0, 23KO) with the vacant WBO international junior featherweight title at stake on 'Pinoy Pride 33 ? Philippines vs The World' at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA on Oct. 18 as ALA Promotions has filled up the opponents of the four main attractions on its maiden card in the United States.

Albert, who stopped his last opponent Jesus Rios at 2 minute mark in the very first round in Dubai last month, will face a surging Gonzalez who knocked out Cornelius Lock of Detroit in the 7th round in Delaware last May 9 and carted home the WBA-NABA featherweight title.

The lanky Gonzalez, standing at 5'8? and a southpaw, comes to fight all the time where he mixes against his opponents by throwing rapid combinations. He was the mandatory challenger of IBF bantamweight champion Joseph 'King Kong' Agbeko of Ghana when they fought in close quarters the whole night of Dec. 11, 2008 in New Jersey where Gonzalez lost by majority decision.

The Albert Pagara-William Gonzalez 12-round match-up is expected to be a barn burner of a fight.

In a battle of undefeated prospects, Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo (11-0-0, 9KO) will defend his IBF youth featherweight title against Yardley Suarez (13-0-0, 8KO) of Sinaloa, Mexico. Both fighters will be fighting outside of their respective countries for the first time. Magsayo dished out an electrifying performance in his last outing when he stopped Rafael Reyes (16-4-0, 12KO) of Mexico in the 5th round on July 11 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City while Suarez TKO'ed fellow Mexican Juan Beltran (8-4-0, 3KO) in the 11th round at Club de Veteranos in his native Sinaloa. Someone's O has got to go in the Magsayo-Suarez 10-rounder fight.

Meanwhile WBO No. 2 rated Jason 'El Nino' Pagara (36-2-0, 22KO) will exchange leathers with Santos 'El Toro' Benavides (25-7-2, 19KO) of Nicaraguan in a 10-round non-title super lightweight bout. Pagara's last fight was in Dubai last month where he defeated Ramiro Alcaraz (15-4-1, 9KO) of Mexico in a 8th round technical decision. Jason racked up 9 straight wins after his loss to Rosbel Montoya of Mexico on Sep. 10, 2011, a loss that he avenged in a rematch on Aug. 8, 2012. Benavides is fresh from two stoppage victories over American Cody Richard (16-1-1) in Texas last May and another American Jay Krupp (18-8-0) at the Evangeline Downs Casino in Opelousas, Louisiana. Earlier he racked up five successive loses against world title contenders Bryan Vazquez (27-0-0), Denis Shafikov (32-0-1), Jose Felix Jr (25-0-1), Amir Imam (14-0-0) and Maurice Hooker (16-0-2). Pagara will stake his lofty ranking against a dangerous opponent.

The event will be headlined by the Philippines' longest reigning world champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes (36-1-4, 21KO) who will defend his WBO light flyweight title against No. 8 ranked Juan 'Pinky' Alejo (21-3-0, 13KO).

The Pagara brothers and Magasayo are now in Los Angeles where they are currently training at Freddie Roach's famous Wildcard Gym while Nietes is expected to leave for the US shortly.
