RAFAEL REYES TARGETS ALBERT PAGARA

CEBU CITY ? Visiting Mexican featherweight Rafael Reyes has his eyes on IBF Inter-Continental super bantamweight champion Albert Pagara after he disposes his opponent this Saturday on 'Pinoy Pride XXXI' at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Lahug, this city.
?We really wanted to fight Albert Pagara,? Reyes, along with his trainer Edmundo Gaitan told the Cebu media Tuesday afternoon at the Rajah Park Hotel. ?That fight was negotiated but somehow it was not made,? Gaitan said.
Reyes (16-4-0, 12KO) had a good reason to want to face Pagara (23-0-0, 16KO) because they had one common opponent in Rodolfo Hernandez (26-7-1, 24KO) whom Reyes stopped in the second round on September 6, 2014 in Mexico City and whom Pagara also dispatched in the 4th round during Pagara's last outing on March 28 this year at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. Reyes probably felt he was better than Pagara because he stopped Hernandez two rounds earlier.
Reyes, from the boxing rich city of Ciudad Juarez, may have to wait a little while though before he could get a chance to face the undefeated Pagara because Pagara is set to headline 'Pinoy Pride XXXII' in Dubai next month, Aug. 7, against another Mexican in Jesus 'Chito' Rios.
And besides, Reyes, who is fighting for the first time outside Mexico, will be facing this Saturday multi-titled amateur and undefeated professional Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo (10-0-0, 8KO) who is considered as one of the brightest prospects to emerge in the Philippine boxing scene recently which could really upset Reyes's plans going forward.
Reyes vs Magsayo is for the vacant IBF Youth featherweight title and the co-main event of the highly-regarded Donnie Nietes vs Francisco Rodriguez WBO light flyweight world title showdown.
