2015 NBA Finals -- Delly declares himself ready for Game 4 By Anthony Rozic PhilBoxing.com Thu, 11 Jun 2015 CLEVELAND -- After a victorious, albeit suspenseful, Game 3 victory, the city of Cleveland heaved a sigh of relief on Wednesday. It's a day off in these 2015 NBA Finals, but both the Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors took to the practice floor to prepare for tomorrow's highly-anticipated Game 4. The players and coaches also met the credentialed media this afternoon (early Thursday morning in Manila) at the Quicken Loans Arena. Fresh off an overnight hospital stint following treatment for cramps and dehydration, Game 3 hero Matthew Dellavedova spoke to reporters and assured Cavs fans that he will be ready for Game 4. "I felt like I've pushed the limit a few times, but that's probably the tightest I've been. Yeah, no, I'm feeling good now though, so it's good we don't have to play back-to-backs," the 24-year old back-up point guard said. After averaging just 20.8 minutes a game during the regular season, Dellevedova, starting in place of the injured Kyrie Irving, had already logged 90 minutes and 21 seconds in three Finals games, which probably explains the fatigue and dehydration. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Dellavedova, known affectionately as Delly among his peers and fans, is becoming a favorite here in Cleveland, thanks to his tenacity. The 24-year old Australian lit up the Warriors for 20 points in Game 3, including a decisive 3-point play that handed the Cavs an 84-80 cushion with 2:27 left to play. IRVING MAKES AN APPEARANCE. Just days after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured left kneecap, All-Star Kyrie Irving visited his teammates at the Q on practice day. He also addressed the media. "It's a tough situation to be in, especially in the Finals at the biggest stage. Dealing with injuries all throughout the playoffs is definitely tough, and it's a test of your will," Irving said of the frustration of being unable to participate in the best of 7 championship series. Irving said he is isn't surprised of Dellys success, telling reporters, "Once you step into that ring with Delly, you better be ready to rumble. so for anyone that's ready to go, he's ready to go all the time." COACH KERR SPEAKS. The Warriors didn't conduct a full-blown practice and chose only to watch film. "That's what today is about. We've lost two games in a row in the series, so we have to look at everything. It may mean we change some things. It may not. Maybe its something else we have to change. But that's what today is about, watching film and the staff getting together and moving forward," said Kerr. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Anthony Rozic. |
