OAKLAND -- The Golden State Warriors are back in the NBA Finals after 40 long years.
The torturous, four-decade wait ended on Wednesday night (Thursday AM in Manila) after the Golden State Warriors eliminated the Houston Rockets (4-1) following a 104-90 victory at the Oracle Arena.
The Warriors arrived will face arguably the best individual player in the planet in LeBron James, who will lead the Cleveland Cavaliers. Game 1 of the 2015 Finals begins on Thursday June 4th, 2015 in Oracle Arena for Game 1 of the best-of-7 championship ( Friday morning - June 5, 2015 Manila time ).
DUB Nation was loud and proud chanting "WARRIORS!" during the Western Conference Championship celebration. It was magical moment, and PhilBoxing was fortunate to chronicle the event
Harrison Barnes was the unsung hero, finishing with 24 points alongside Stephens Curry's 26 points to send James Harden and the Rockets packing. Klay Thompson added 20 points in one of his better shooting games, but his minutes were limited by five fouls early in the third quarter.
Unfortunately when Klay Thompson checked backed in the fourth quarter he was hit by Trevor Ariza's knee, sending Thompson on the floor with an ear laceration. After the game, the Warriors medical staff reported that Klay Thompson showed symptoms of a possible concussion.
After a 45 point break out performance from the MVP runner up James Harden in Game 4 to force a game five, Warriors tightened defensively and forced Harden to a 13 turnovers, and a low 14 points performance.
Jason Terry finished with 16, Trevor Ariza 15 and 11 points from Josh Smith. Dwight Howard pitched in 18 points and 16 boards but fell short, and ultimately ended the Houston Rockets' championship hopes. (RPM)
