THE DAY THE WORLD LOSES WITH MANNY PACQUIAO

PhilBoxing.com

As promised, I didn?t watch the fight.

The title above was the first thought that dawned on me when I woke up this afternoon to hear the news which already I gleaned in my ?dream? moments earlier - exactly the same scenario of how the contest actually turned out to be hours ago. Many other related thoughts came to my mind thereafter and I intend to share them with everyone in the future as I have yet to see the replay of the disappointing ?Mayweather- Pacquiao.?

It?s not hard to make a predictable prediction of a dull Mayweather fight if the boxer that Floyd is going against would have no solution to break a wizardry defense however skillful or strong he may be. Based on the accounts from different reporters, the outcome of today?s MGM ?grand? event was what many of us expected to happen all along.

But to my analysis, it was just on condition that Freddie Roach, being the chief trainer for Pacquiao, would fail to guide his ward to solve the one and only problem about Mayweather (inside the ring) to be able to beat the unbeaten. They miserably failed. Had they not, Pacquiao could have won spectacularly.
Somebody must have advised Pacquiao not to treat Mayweather like he treated the opponents he conquered in the past. It would have surely done Pacman good had he forgotten all of them because there is no lesson and amount of confidence that he can derive from their memory that would help him defeat Mayweather. Floyd is a different breed and he is no Dela Hoya, Cotto, Margarito, Hatton, Bradley, Rios, Algieri, Barrera, Morales or Marquez.

Roach has become cocky in this ?historic? Mayweather fight to the detriment of his fighter. He is probably too proud to believe that he is the one who made Pacquiao when the truth is the other way around. Pacquiao would still be Pacquiao without Roach. But Roach wouldn?t be the multi-awarded trainer that he is today without Pacquiao.

Except for Pacman, Roach only made mediocre boxers even out of the brave and talented Amir Khan who could have developed better under his care. Therefore what that means in relation to Pacman as his pupil? As I have said in my previous article, Freddie is immaterial in a Manny win, but he shares the blame big if Manny loses to Money Mayweather.

Remember, in his desire for Pacquiao to forget about his new found faith, Roach told Pacquiao that God doesn?t care. He counseled, ?Manny, God doesn?t give a (expletive) who wins. He?s got bigger things to do.? Alas, those very words could have served as a curse that had its effect this morning (Manila time) in Las Vegas for the Filipino icon.

?I tell you, on the day of judgment, men will render account for every careless word they utter, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.? - Matthew 12:36-37

God cares.

Be repentant.
