NBA Playoffs -- Rockets burn Mavs, seize Game 1 By Franco Ching Alsay PhilBoxing.com Mon, 20 Apr 2015 ![]() HOUSTON -- James Harden only had a rather tame 24 points, but six other Rockets chipped in double figures in points and Houston opened the 2015 NBA playoffs with a convincing victory on Saturday night. Terrence Jones had 19 points while Corey Brewer drilled three 3s for 15 points in the Rockets' 118-108 Game 1 triumph over the Dallas Mavericks in their Western Conference quarterfinals at the Toyota Center. Game 2 of the best-of-7 affair returns to the Toyota Center on Tuesday night. " You got to understand this is the playoffs. We are at home, we must come out and maintain a certain level of intensity and its my job as a point guard to set the tone for us. I do my job on front Dwight does his behind me and so with that said, we just have to continue to play with a sense of urgency on both ends of the floor." Rockets guard Terry, who logged in 16 points, told reporters. Trevor Ariza added 12 points while Dwight Howard and Josh Smith each had 11 points to help the No.2 seed Houston build a 15-point first half lead. The Mavs got to within 86-81 with 10:18 left in the fourth quarter, but the Rockets answered with a run and built the bubble back up to 109-95 with 3:02 to go. "James did a nice job on driving in, he got to the line a bunch, end up with 24 points, but he got 24 points only in 11 shots so, he got to the line quite a bit and he had 11 assists," Rockets head coach Kevin McHale said. Dirk Nowitzki led the seventh-seeded Mavericks with 24 points on 10-for-14 shooting. But Dallas, which made only 44 of 99 field goals, found little spark elsewhere. Monta Ellis made only 5-of-16 shots for 16 markers while Chandler Parsons had 10. Rajon Rondo submitted 16 points, but the ace point guard flubbed nine of 16 field goals.
