DUE TO FAILED FIGHT: Apolinario still needs money for daughter?s operation By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Sun, 12 Apr 2015 BOXER John Mark Apolinario, who was not able to fight in Mexico, is now in desperate need of money for the immediate operation of her daughter in Saranggani Province. ?Kailangan kasi nyang pa-operahan ang kanyang anak na walang butas sa puwet,? said trainer-matchmaker Joven Jimenez in a text message. Her 4-year old daughter Jaira was born with an imperforated anus, an abnormality which she had since birth. Jimenez is accompanying Apolinario, who was supposed to fight undefeated Jessie Magdaleno in Texas on Saturday. But it was cancelled after Apolinario failed to get a license for failing to submit on time his medical papers. Apolinario was hoping to use his boxer?s purse for his 4-year old daughter Jaira, who needs at least P200,000 for her operation. ?Wala talagang naipong pera si John at ngayon wala din kaming perang nakuha dahil nga hindi natuloy ang laban,? said Jimenez in a text message. Apolinario has been crying since he learned about the cancelation of the fight. ?Magdaan na lang muna kami sa Los Angeles to possibly ask help from our Cong. Manny Pacquiao. Baka makatulong sana siya,? said Jimenez, who also helps the MP Promotions USA LLC in promoting boxing in Mindanao. ?Sana makaabot itong problema ni Apolinario kay Boss Manny,? said Jimenez, who was responsible of Apolinario?s last two fights. In his previous fight, Apolinario scored a first round knockout win over Joel Escol in Valencia City last January 11 after dropping a unanimous decision against champion Drian Francisco last November 18 at the Almendras gym. Jimenez clarified the news report that Apolinario had bypassed promoter Sammy Gello-ani in his fight in Texas. Apolinario told Jimenez that he was also short change by Gello-ani, who only gave him US $2,000 during his world title-fight with Japanese Koki Kameda for the WBA World bantamweight title last July 23, 2013 in Tokyo, Japan. Apolinario was downed in 10th and 12th to drop a unanimous decision. ?He only received P80,000 from Gello-ani instead of the 50 percent of the boxer?s purse,? said Jimenez. Jimenez said. Jimenez also denied that it was Gello-ani who helped them get a visa in the US. Jimenez said. Jimenez said. He said that it was Carlos Costa of Panama who arranged for the fight of Apolinario against former world champion Hernan Marquez, who won by a unanimous decision on April 26, 2014 at Centro Convenciones, Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico. Jimenez said. Jimenez said that a matchmaker usually gets a 20 percentage from the boxer?s purse. Jimenez said that Apolinario?s contract with his manager Dr. Raja Yraola of Manila ended last January 2014. Apolinario said that he hopes and pray that he will soon be given another fight. He thanked Top Rank especially Brad Goodman for giving him an opportunity. He also asked for an apology to his opponent Jessie Magdaleno. Apolinario (18 wins, 5 Kos, 5 loses, 3 draws) has two previous draws both against Panamanian Roberto Vasquez in 2012 and 2013. Apolinario, a former WBO Oriental super flyweight champion first had a majority draw with Vasquez last November 3, 2012 at Club La Union, Colon, Entre Rios, Argentina. Their rematch held March 16, 2013 at the Megapolis Convention Center in Panama City, the title-fight ended in a split draw. Judges Levi Martinez (116-112) and Carla Caiz (112-116) scored it in different favors while judge Nelson Vasquez had it a 115-all. In December 23, 2011, Apolinario?s opponent Menard Zaragosa suddenly ran out of the ring towards the restroom for a second round technical knockout.
