Davao boxer to fight for vacant WBA Asian feather crown By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Wed, 11 Mar 2015 CURRENT World Boxing Federation (WBF) International super bantamweight champion John Vincent ?Mulawin? Moralde of Davao City will fight for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight title on March 14 at the Rumours International in Toowomba, Queensland, Australia. Moralde (11 wins, 6 KOs, O loss, O draw) will face WBC Youth Silver featherweight champion Brayd ?The Great White? Smith of Australia (12 wins, 10 KOs, O loss, O draw). The 20-year old Moralde and his young manager Jim Claude Manangquil of the Sanman Promotions from General Santos City left Manila today (March 12) for Australia. "Moralde is in good shape and has trained for two months for this fight," said Mananquil. Moralde previously beat Indonesian Jason Butar-Butar by a unanimous decision last Sept. 13 at Lagao gym in General Santos City. The 5-foot-7 former outstanding amateur boxer from Davao City also stopped Ronerex Dalut by a 2nd round KO to cop the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super bantamweight title July 2 at the Bula Gym in Gensan. "We're hoping to bring home the title," said Manangquil. The 23-year old Smith, on the other hand, won his last three fights all via the short route. Smith TKO?d fellow Aussie Jarrett Owen in the 2nd round for the WBC Youth title before knocking out Brazilian Cid Edson Bispo Ribeiro in the 3rd round last October 31.
