NBA -- Brewer's 26 powers Rockets past Raptors

HOUSTON -- Corey Brewer sank 12 of 19 field goals for 26 points and the Houston Rockets trounced the Toronto Raptors, 98-76, on Saturday night at the Toyota Center.
Brewer's heroics was a welcome relief for the Rockets as the usually explosive James Harden had a relatively quiet 20 points. Only one other Rocket scored in double figures (Domatas Motiejunas, 12 points and 11 rebounds) but it was still enough as Houston broke the game wide open with a 28-17 third quarter run.
Houston shot just 35 of 84 from the field (41.7 percent) but their defense held Toronto to a dismal 32.5 percent shooting (25 of 77).
James Johnson led the visiting Raptors with 27 points while James Valanciunas and Kyle Lowry chipped in 11 apiece. Terrence Ross came off the bench with six points on 2-for-shooting.
Despite the loss, the Raptors kept their second place spot in the Eastern Conference with a 37-18 record. The Rockets, on the other hand, improved to 37-18, third place in the tightly-contested Western Conference.
