NIETES RETAINS WBO ASIAPAC CROWN, KOs THAI IN 2ND ROUND

Victorias City -- Local boy Donnie Nietes retained his WBO Asia-Pacific minimumweigh title by knocking out the undersized Thai Thongthailek Por Vorasing in the 2nd round of their 12-round championship bout at the Victorias Gym here.
Nietes caught Vorasing with a flush right straight to the jaw that sent the hapless Thai to the canvas unconscious for a few minutes. Local medics had to revive Vorasing who finally regained consciousness and get back on his feet.
Nietes's record has now improved to 20-1-3 (11 ko's) while Vorasing has dropped to 3-4-0 according to Boxrec.
WBO Vice-President Leon Panoncillo, who supervised the Nietes-Vorasing fight, said that Nietes next fight could already be for the WBO world championship.
In the co-feature, Mark Jason Melliguen of ALA Gym won by KO in the seventh round over Christopher Saluday of Davao City to capture the vacant Philippine super lightweight crown. Melliguen sent Saluday to the canvas 5 times, once in the first and fourth rounds and 3 times in the seventh before referee Teddy Alivio stopped the contest.

Franklin Albia won by unanimous decision over Mario Borres.
Gerald Nietes won by technical knockout in the 3rd round against Tata Galendez of Butuan City. Note: This is Gerald Nietes' professional debut.
Warlito Parenas of the Terry Morgan Stable won by 2nd round TKO against Jerome Bontog of Mandaue City.
Gil Melligen of Bacolod City won by Unanimous Decision over Markyll Taroja of Butuan City.
Jun Intor of Mabinay, Negros Occidental won by Unanimous Decision over Romnick Rapista of Butuan City.
Special Women's Bout:
Gretchen Abaniel won by 3rd round TKO over Jessica Oyang.
Both fighters are from Metro Manila.
