PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER MEGAFIGHT WILL NEVER HAPPEN, PERIOD! AND IT WILL NOT BE MANNY?S FAULT

PhilBoxing.com

The Sunday Telegraph, Fox Sports and Washington Post?s headline: Mayweather and Pacquiao agree to a $250 million fight!

NOT.

Floyd himself shot it down.

There was unimaginable excitement that exploded in the boxing world last month when the five year old passionately anticipated mega fight between the once in a lifetime superstars of the sweet science, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. would at last come to fruition.

Finally, Manny versus Money. Really?

And then, this was followed by an eerily deafening silence. Evidently, as a result of an apparent gag order demanded by the flamboyant pound for pound king? Supposedly, this was a very clever attempt by Floyd Jr and his handlers designed to stop all the ?lies? being floated by Team Pacquiao, Bob Arum and anybody even remotely associated with Manny Pacquaio.

But lo and behold, for the past 72 hours, there are numerous stories, activities and a flurry of chatter, quoting ?reliable sources? that for all intents and purposes proclaiming that the Fight of the Century is a done deal and will indeed happen on May 2, 2015 at the MGM in Las Vegas.

Being a well-known and notorious party animal, Mayweather Jr was right in the middle of the NBA All Star festivities, hosting at least a couple of celebrity studded parties.

His presence in New York during the NBA All Star Extravaganza gave some credence to reports that the Pacquiao-Mayweather Fight of All Ages will be announced during the halftime of the NBA All Star game.

Hallelujah, the dream fight, long awaited not only by boxing fans but by all sports fans from every corner of the world will indeed come into being.

The over the top festivities of the NBA All Star weekend and the high scoring All Star game itself have come and gone but still no Pacquiao-Mayweather announcement.

Did we not hear that before? The fight was supposed to have been proclaimed signed and delivered during the Super Bowl.

Let?s peruse everything that may relate to Manny, Floyd Jr and of course the fight. Anything under the sun that we can analyze no matter how trivial or improbable.

We already know about the back and forth regarding the random drug screen, purse split, PED allegation, shifting and evolving demands and the list goes on. We don?t have to belabor them anymore.

In my humble opinion, but a belief shared by many boxing experts, trainers, boxers and even fans, diehard or otherwise; that Mr. Floyd Mayweather, Jr, never had any plan nor desire to fight the pride of the Philippines, Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao

Everybody is simply being played like a fiddle by the master manipulator and hands down, the best social media savvy sports celebrity known to mankind.

In every interview, including his appearance in Showtime announcing the May 2 fight, Mr. Mayweather had rehashed ad nauseam old and clich?d issues like the drug testing, Bob Arum, Pacquiao not being his own boss, purse split, etc., which Floyd has argued caused the fight to be railroaded in the past. And incorrectly emphasizing to the world, that Mr. 47-0 has always wanted to fight Pacquiao, but Pacquaio and his handlers were the problem.

But Floyd?s own words have betrayed him. Recorded Mayweather interviews after interviews have proven that he never wanted to go into the square ring with the fighting congressman from the Philippines. Mayweather even admitted in an interview that he will never risk his health fighting with the aggressive, hard hitting, lightning fast left hander.

The most brilliant ruse floated by Team Mayweather was the PED allegation against Manny Pacquaio who from the very beginning of his career had been knocking out fighters to sleep. Pacquiao did not just come out of nowhere. Unfortunately, the PED claim took a life of its own. I have written this in a previous column and it was prophetic.

The only enhancement Pacquiao has ever used are his hard work and God given gift.

Why is it Pretty Boy Floyd, TBE (the best ever), Mr. Money Man Mayweather seems suddenly interested to finally give the fans all over the world the Pacquiao-Mayweather mega fight they have been clamoring for?

Jealousy and resentment.

For the past several weeks, Manny Pacquaio has been in the limelight. In the Philippines, he is already god-like but when Mayweather sees Pacquiao rubbing elbows with who?s who in the celebrity world effectively making him a mega global icon, it must be killing and eating Floyd up from the inside.

For the past few weeks, Manny was invited and had dinner with Prince Harry in London. He was one of the judges of the prestigious Miss Universe Pageant in Miami. Pacquiao was invited to participate together with United States and world leaders in the National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington DC where he later visited Capitol Hill as guest of several US lawmakers.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. cannot simply stand by idly and let all the limelight shine on his hated nemesis. Floyd needed to make his own noise.

Floyd has always felt he is not only a superior fighter but mistakenly thinks Pacquiao is intellectually inferior when he alluded a couple of years ago during one of his interviews after they talked for a few minutes on the phone. It is very likely that Floyd was equating Pacquiao?s less than perfect command of the English language as a measure of his IQ. Obviously, Floyd, a native born American speaks better English albeit grammatically flawed. One may wonder how his command of a second language would be.

But I digress.

Although Floyd Mayweather, Jr. may project an image of a brash, arrogant, highly confident, know-it-all and self assured personality, deep down, he is very insecure and full of doubts. He can never accept being upstaged by someone he feels does not come close to his caliber.

Is Floyd afraid to fight Pacquiao? Absolutely not. Mayweather is a fighter and a warrior. He fears no one.

Does he want to fight Manny? Absolutely.

Floyd has no qualms to step in the ring with anybody and fight with anyone he knows he can beat.

On paper, Manny would appear that he has no chance against the superior boxing ability and exceptional shoulder roll defense of Floyd Jr. One trainer even suggested during an interview with a well known boxing website that Mayweather is nearly impossible to beat.

Mayweather himself and everyone associated with him confidently assert that Pacquaio does not have the wherewithal to even be competitive against the Money Man.

If fighting Pacquiao is simply a walk in the park and a piece of cake for Floyd, why is it the man called Money has not cashed in and fight Manny for an estimated outrageous amount approaching $150 million just for him alone? It should be a no brainer.

Why? Smidgen of self doubt.

There is that tiny speck of insecurity which Floyd cannot shake off from the very deep recesses of his cerebrum. The thought of a split second self doubt causing a wayward but devastating left hook coming from an unusual angle crashing on his pretty face is simply too much to bear. And without being 100% sure, he simply cannot take a chance to lose that magical ZERO.

And the loss of that cherished ZERO will have an untold devastating effect on Floyd?s psyche which hundreds of millions of dollars may not adequately compensate.

However, Floyd wants so badly to fight and beat Manny, the only man who stands on his way, a thorn in his side, a stumbling block in attaining his legacy and his rare place in boxing history as an all time great.

The ?chance? meeting during the Miami Heat game was not an accident. Floyd wanted to probe. He was scouting Manny. He wanted to look directly into Pacquiao?s eyes. Floyd knows they are both elite level athletes and the difference could boil down to one?s supreme confidence and who has the eye of the tiger. Mayweather is a master of mind games. He always wants to have the upperhand even before the first punch is thrown. He has won so many fights before the first round bell rang. He wanted to see for himself if he can intimidate Manny. Floyd wanted to gauge Pacquiao?s response.

What did Floyd see in Manny?s eyes? What he saw could decide if the May 2nd fight actually happens.

If Floyd saw something and has shaken off that smidgen of doubt, the fight that everybody is waiting for will unquestionably happen.

On the other hand, If I believe my own psychobabble, this Mega Fight, Fight Of All Ages, Fight Of The Century, Fight That Ends All Fights will never happen.

And even after Floyd ?Money? Mayweather signs the mega deal contract, do not be surprised if it gets canceled later on due to ?injury?.

And if I am wrong, I will literally eat 3 copies of this article. One copy when the fight is announced, one copy at weigh in and the last copy just before the fight.

I am highly confident I will not be eating paper anytime soon.
