NBA -- Rockets tame Bulls, 101-90
By Franco Ching Alsay PhilBoxing.com Thu, 05 Feb 2015

HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets grabbed the Chicago Bulls by the horns on Wednesday night, scoring a 101-90 decision at the Toyota Center.
James Harden powered the Rockets with 27 points while Trevor Ariza added 20 points and five rebounds. Donatas Motiejunas finished with 15 points and 10 boards while Josh Smith, who was still with the Detroit Pistons during the two teams' initial meeting earlier this season, pitched in nine points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the absence of Dwight Howard (right knee injury), the Rockets outscored the Bulls in the paint 50-28. Houston was badly outrebounded, 60-47, but the Rockets had more assists, 18-16, and committed only six turnovers against Chicago's 12.
"Every night, that's our motto is to be aggressive and so many guys who can come in and play. We don't worry about getting tired," Harden said.
The Rockets made only 38 of 92 field goals (41.3 percent) but it was enough to carry them to victory as the Bulls couldn't get any traction offensively, making just 31 of 89 shots (34.8 percent), including a dismal 8-for-25 fare from above the 3-point arc.
"We're playing hard in spurts, but we just can't do it for 48 minutes right now," said Bulls center Joakim Noah, who grabbed 19 points but finished with just one point after missing all eight of his field goals.
Jimmy Butler paced the Bulls with 27 and Derrick Rose had 20. Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson combined for 28 points and 22 rebounds, but it all went for naught as Chicago lost its third straight assignment.
The Bulls dropped to 30-20, fifth place overall in the Eastern Conference.
