PhilBoxing.com

REIGNING World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council light welterweight champion Adones Cabalquinto Adones Cabalquinto and Aston Palicte both vowed to knockout their opponents from Thailand in their separate title-fights this Saturday 5 p.m. at the Almendras gym in Davao City.

"Baka sa 5 or 6 rounds. Yan ang target ko,"said the undeafeated Cabalquinto (18 wins with 11 knockouts) who will be fighting Denkamon Pakdee Gym (12 wins, 3 loses) of Thailand fore the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Asia junior welterweight title (12 rounds-140 lbs.).

Palicte (14 wins, 10 KOs 1 loss) said hewill go for a 5th round stoppage against Jomyuthlek Sor Narongchai (12 wins, 5 KOs 2 loses, 1 draw) for the vacant IBF World Youth super flyweight title (10 rounds-115 lbs.).

Both Cabalquinto and Palicte of the MP Stable in Davao City made their predictions last Tuesday during the weekly SCOOP Session at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.

Also present was boxing promoter-matchmaker Joven Jimenez, who said that the official weigh-in will be on Friday at 10 a.m. also at the Royal Mandaya Hotel.

Expected to handle the weigh-in are officials of the Games and Amusements Board headed by Commissioner and IBF representative Fritz Gaston, who is arriving from Manila together with veteran referee Bruce McTavish of New Zealand.

"Commissioner Gaston will give us the names of the judges including one from Thailand," said Jimenez.

Both Cabalquinto and Palicte also knocked out their rivals in their previous outing last November during the Tibay ng Pinoy 5 at the Almendras gym.

Cabalquinto landed countless left-right combinations to score a technical knockout at the end of the 8th round against Pankorn Singwancha of Thailand to capture the vacant World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council (WBC-ABCO) light welterweight title.

Palicte, on the other hand, scored a smashing first round knockout in 1:22 against Cebu's Genpaul Valero. Palicte escaped from an attack at the corner to land a smashing right jab to the face of Valero, who was thrown back helplessly flatflooded at the post.

The two championship fights are the double main-headers of the "Tibay ng Pinoy 6" boxing card of the MP Promotion USA LLC in coordination with Joven Sports Promotion.

It will have a total of 92 rounds. The undercard will feature Drian Francisco of MP Stable vs. Jason Egera of Guanzon Stable-Iloilo (10 rds.-119 lbs.), Marlon Tapales of MP Stable vs. Jecker Buhawe of Gandeza Stable-Laguna (10 rds.-12 lbs.), Marvelou Aballe of MP Stable vs. Ronerex Dalut of Quinones Stable-Gen.
