HOUSTON -- The Golden State Warriors outfought the Houston Rockets, 131-106, on Saturday night at the Toyota Center.
The Warriors proved why they are the No.1 team in the Western Conference record-wise as Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson each finished with 27 points and ran rings around the Rockets defense.
Besides his scoring chores, Curry also handed out 11 assists and he went 7-for-8 at the free throw line. Thompson, meanwhile, used his long arms and quick feet to contain Rockets' star James Harden, who was held to 12 points on 4-of-15 shooting. Thompson also had five steals.
David Lee also came up huge for the Warriors, chipping in 18 points and eight boards..
Dwight Howard tallied 23 points and 10 boards but it wasn't enough as the Rockets couldn't lift off the ground, making only 37 of 88 field goals.
Donatas Montiejunas and Josh Smith recorded 14 points apiece for Houston.
"We weren't getting back on defense. We just had nothing for them, its so disappointing. And we got to be able to withstand an off shooting night by James because its going to happen," Rockets head coach Kevin McHale said.
The Rockets are 0 and 3 against the GSW this season and both teams will meet again on Wednesday January 21 at the Oracle Arena.
